Muqarnas (مقرنص) is an architectural decor on domes, niches, arches etc; reminiscent of stalactites or honeycombs. [wiki] وأوحى ربك إلى النحل أن اتخذي من الجبال بيوتا ومن الشجر ومما يعرشون [Q16:68-69] It is seen in ancient Islamic architecture for centuries.
