Curve Control

Posted By Snow at 5/11/2015 1 comments

Once upon a time, I wished one day I'll figure how to make a curve go straight through the control points. What a nerdy wish. But well, all this while, the curve only nears it. So today... somehow... (◠oo◠) Oh Allah SWT, thank you so much - I feel like Cinderella back from the palace. .:(◠v◠):.

Of course, even Bezier isn't perfect - the curve has its moments ha ha... The left one curves inward. But simply rearrange the controls, from clockwise to counter clockwise, & walla the right one curves outward. OK I honestly don't know the maths. All I care - it goes straight through the controls. (◠v◠) الحمد لله

And for a smooth curve, there's a variable smooth. But I can't figure how to calculate it... (◠v◠)'
Update: actually, this variable arcs the curve | photo

<style> div { position: fixed; } </style>

smooth = 0.7;        // this controls the curves smoothness - but I dunno how to figure it

point = function (x,y)
{    this.x = x;
      this.y = y;
};

c = new Array(       // the control points
      new point(100,400), new point(200,100), new point(100,250),
      new point(500,100), new point(300,200), new point(500,400)
);    nctrls = c.length;

p = new Array(        // the curve points
      new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0),
      new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0), new point(0,0)
);    npoints = p.length;

function drawcurve()
{
      for (i=0; i<(nctrls-1); i++)
      {    for (j=0; j<npoints; j++)
            {
                 spanx = (c[i].x - c[i+1].x)/npoints*j;
                 spany = (c[i].y - c[i+1].y)/npoints*j;

                 p[j].x = c[i].x - spanx;
                 p[j].y = c[i].y - spany;

                 for (np=0; np<npoints; np++)
                 {    p[np].y -= spanx/npoints*(npoints-np)/smooth;
                       p[np].x += spany/npoints*(npoints-np)/smooth;
                 }

                document.write ("<div style='left:" + p[j].x + "; top:" + p[j].y + ";'>★</div>");
          }
     }
}

So here's the code in HTML JavaScript. .:\(◠v◠)/:.

Bezier Curve

Posted By Snow at 5/08/2015 0 comments

When you wanna draw a curve, you want something like this right... And the computer draws it for you - using math. Like this curve, it is drawn using the Bezier function. Bezier is one of the many math functions that can be used, each with its own way to draw a curve.

So when the computer draws a curve, it basically plots points ★ on your screen's display grid. First, you set the controls ❤ to control how the curve looks like. Then the math figures out where to plot points which make up the curve. | what is display grid

And... steady ya'all... here's the math equation to figure that out. OK Pierre Bezier worked out that math equation - that's why we call it the Bezier. So others simply turn that into code, to program the computer to do the math stuffs. An walla, here's the math turned into code (HTML JavaScript):

function facto (number)
{   fac = 1;
     for (f=1; f<=number; f++) fac*=f;
     return fac;
}

function blend (u, i)
{   return facto(nctrls) / (facto(i) * facto(nctrls-i)) * Math.pow(u,i) * Math.pow((1-u),(nctrls-i));
}

function drawbeziercurve ()
{   for (np = 0; np < npoints; np++)      // from first point (P1) to last point (Pn)
     {     x = 0; y = 0;
            u = np / (npoints - 1);
            for (i=0; i < nctrls; i++)            // get point's coordinate (x,y)
            {    x += blend(u,i) * c[i].x;
                  y += blend(u,i) * c[i].y;
            }
            document.write ("<div style='left:" + x + "; top:" + y + ";'>★</div>");     // plot point at (x,y)
     }
}

An example of Bezier surface modelling (using OpenGL)

And when we can draw a curve on a computer, we can draw so many things! Like these things below. This can help people design homes, planes; or terrains, cities; or model the human body for medical purposes. There's so many things you can do when you can visualize things on the computer.

So this goes to show, some people did go to university with a purpose. So cheer up Malaysia, some people exists. And cheer up Snow, destiny for you - is beautiful. (◠v◠)'

Rip Currents

Posted By Snow at 12/20/2011 3 comments

A rip current pushes a swimmer farther into the sea
To escape the current, swim parallel to the beach
DO NOT SWIM AGAINST IT

I've never experience this. But I read a drowning incident today, where 2 brothers drowned at a popular beach. They were young men, only 23 and 16. The father tried to rescue them but he was unsuccessful. The news reported, the brothers were suddenly pulled in by the current.

I assume it were rip currents. I learn about it in another recent incident. So I hope there is awareness about rip currents.

Rip currents are sea waves rushing towards the beach and then away from it. It does not pull a swimmer underwater - but it pushes a swimmer away from the beach & farther out to sea. Drowning deaths happens when the swimmer cannot keep himself afloat & swim to shore. This is due to fear, panic, exhaustion, or lack of swimming skills. It's the leading hazard for beach goers. In the US, one person drowns for every 4 days due to rip currents. [NOAA]

So if your ever get caught in a rip current:
#1 Remain calm to save energy.
#2 Don’t fight the current.
#3 Escape the current by swimming out parallel to the beach. If you can't swim out, float or calmly tread water. When out of the current, swim towards shore | more

Swim parallel to the beach or float DO NOT SWIM AGAINST IT

So have fun! & may you be safe. Wishing there are notice boards about hazards and ways to deal with it at the beach. | real life experiences

& condolences to the family.

I seek refuge to Allah SWT from errors
Only Allah SWT knows best.

Gold Ribbons

Posted By Snow at 9/22/2010 1 comments

So beautiful
This is from GlobeEnterprise

When I was a child, I read a book about a girl in a ribbon shop. I remember the part about beautiful gorgeous ribbons. & today, I feel like I'm that kid ماشاء الله. I loved it so much, instead of buying in meters I bought rolls of gold ribbons. [photo]

I don't know what I'm going to do with so much gold ribbons right now. But think about the future! In the next 5 years, will the price increase (but hope not). & I'll have all these gorgeous ribbons - at that time - priced at the last 5 years. Isn't it far sight? (◠v◠)

& I choose gold ribbons, coz gold is gorgeous [Q43:35]. But just in small portions though - I'm using a hint of gold with cream white.

BTW, in Islam owning gold requires the paying of zakat. [Q9:34-35] So I wonder if they use brass as a substitute to mimic gold? [SB9.90.334] It is a nice gold look-alike for that little decor. I think this pic is a brass astrolabe in arabic/persian. There could be chemistry to achieve this? Gold itself is actually a chemical element in the periodic table. [79 Au] Pure gold is soft.

Zakat for gold
PZS | PZP| PZJ

Zakat of 2.5% is obligated for:
· female jewelries - zakat if you wear more than what the locals usually wear (uruf)
· others e.g. currency, savings, decors - zakat if you own more than 85g

Hope I get it right, only Allah Knows Best

Blessed Ramadhan

Posted By Snow at 8/10/2010 2 comments

O you who have believed, decreed upon you fasting, as it was decreed
upon those before you, so that you may achieve taqwa [Quran 2:183]

.............................................................................................................
A Day In Ramadhan | QA
.............................................................................................................

صوم means
fasting, abstaining
 1  Make Your Intention To Fast
Time: the night before fasting, from sunset to before dawn

Hey we're fasting tomorrow! So tonight, we make the intention.
It is obligated, or else the fast isn't valid.
According to Syafi'e, it must be recited every night.
Views say this is the best way. Say in the heart:
نويت صوم غد عن أداء فرض شهر رمضان هذه السنة لله تعالى
I intend to fast tomorrow to fulfill the obligation of Ramadhan
for this year, for Allah Ta'ala

Still according to Maliki, it can be recited for the whole month.
Before the 1st Ramadhan fast, say in the heart:
نويت صوم شهر رمضان كله لله تعالى
I intend to fast for the whole month of Ramadhan for Allah Ta'ala

 2  Eat Your Sahoor
Time: before fajr (dawn)

Wake up, wake up! We're having a very early morning meal, there's blessings in it. [SB3:31:146] The best time to eat sahoor is as close as possible to dawn. Then about 10 minutes before dawn, we stop eating.

 3  Fasting For The Day
Time: fajr (dawn) - maghrib (sunset)

Good things to do while fasting: وكان أجود ما يكون في رمضان [SB3:31:126]
· read the Holy Quran, praising Allah (zikr), follow the ways of the Prophet
· donating & helping the poor, needy, orphans etc
· increase good deeds
· avoid useless talks, deeds
· seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and people
"Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)" [From Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 3 Book 31 Hadith127]

"Every believing servant would be granted pardon except the one in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother" [From Sahih Muslim, Book 32 Hadith 6224]

Please take care that these things invalidates fasting:
· intentionally eating or drinking (quickly stop if we forgot)
· intentionally inserting anything into the body
· intentionally vomiting
· intentionally ejecting semen
· sexual relationship
· menses or postpartum bleeding
· insanity
· apostasy

 4  Breaking of fast
Time: maghrib (sunset)

When it's maghrib, time to break the fast! [SB3:31:175]
First, we recite the dua:
اللهم لك صمت و بك أمنت و على رزقك افطرت
O Allah, for You is my fasting, to You I have faith in,
and with Your sustenance I break my fast

It is best to break the fast early, starting with dates or water.
"..There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and
the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."
[From Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 3 Book 31 Hadith 128]

 5  Tarawih Prayers
Time: after isha (night prayer) to before fajr (dawn)

Oh the special prayers! We do it only in Ramadhan, and it is recommended. [SB3:32:241] It can be done in congregation at the mosque or simply alone at home. It has 2 raka'at with 1 salam. This can be repeated again & again until 8 raka'at. Maximum 20 raka'at.
The intention:
I pray sunat Tarawih 2 raka'at (following imam)* for Allah Ta'ala

* recite if praying in congregation, dismiss if praying alone

Performing it is similar to the daily prayer. Please see How To Pray.
"Whoever established prayers on the Night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."
[From Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 3 Book 31 Hadith 125]

 6  Zakat Fitra
Time: permissible during Ramadhan,
obligated after sunset on the last day of Ramadhan,
best on the 1st of Shawwal (after Fajr prayer to before Eid prayer),
forbidden after Eid prayer

Paying zakat fitra is obligated to a muslim who is not enslaved & able to pay; at the end of Ramadhan. The rate depends on the value of the local staple food.
E.g.: Zakat fitr for 1431 in Malaysia was by the rate of 2.27kg rice at RM7.

This is an overview, so please check out more in books
Have a blessed Ramadhan ☆ May Allah SWT rewards & forgives us

............................................................................................................
Let's Start To Pray
............................................................................................................

[1] Intention & Takbir

Stand right. Say the intention to pray in your heart.
E.g for Zuhr prayer, intend in the heart:
أصلي فرض الظهر أربع ركعات اداء لله تعالى
I pray fardhu Zuhr 4 raka'at for Allah Ta'ala

Keep the intention. Then raise your hands & say:
الله اكبر
Allah Most Great

After this, you're now starting the first raka'at.

[2] Recitations

For the 1st raka'at, it's recommended to start with the Iftitah:

الله أكبر كبيرا والحمد لله كثيرا
وسبحان الله بكرة وأصيلا
وجهت وجهي للذي فطر السموات والأرض
حنيفا مسلما وما انا من المشركين
إن صلاتي ونسكي ومحياي ومماتي لله رب العالمين
لا شريك له وبذلك أمرت وأنا من المسلمين

Allah Most Great and all praises to Allah greatly
All glories to Allah in the mornings and the evenings
I turn my face towards He
who Created the heavens and the earth
inclining toward truth as those who submit
and I am not of those who are idolaters
[Q6:79]
Indeed my prayers, my sacrifices, my life and my death
are for Allah Lord of the worlds
No partner has He, and this I have been commanded
and I am among those who submit
[Q6:162-163]

Recite Surah Al-Fatihah. This surah is read for every raka'at.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
(All) the praises for Allah, Lord of the worlds
The Most Gracious the Most Merciful
Sovereign of the Day of Judgment
It is You we worship and it is You we ask for help
Guide us to Siratul Mustaqim (straight path)
The path of whom You have bestowed favor upon them,
not the ones who incurred Your anger upon them, and not the astray

After reciting surah Al-Fatihah, it is recommended to recite another surah
for the first and second raka'at. E.g:
· for the first raka'at, recite surah Al-Ikhlas
· for the second raka'at, recite surah Al-Kauthar
· for other raka'at, there are no additional surah

[3] Rukuk

Bowing & rest for a moment. Say (3 times):
All glory to my Lord the Most Great and all praises to Him
[4] Iktidal

While rising from rukuk, say:
سمع الله لمن حمده
Allah Hears those who praise Him

Standing & rest for a moment. Say:
Our Lord to you is all praises

[5] Sujud

Prostrating & rest for a moment. Say (3 times):
All glory to my Lord the Most High and all praises to Him

The forehead, palms, knees & base of toes must touch the ground. [SM4.995]
The forehead should be bare and holds some weight.

[6] Sitting Between 2 Sujud

Sitting & rest for a moment. Recite:

O my Lord, please forgive me, have mercy on me, cover my shame, raise me, sustain me, guide me, give me health and forgive me

Then repeat [5] to complete 2 prostrations.

Then from the 2nd prostration:
-----if this is the 2nd or final raka'at do [7]
-----else, start the next raka'at at [2]

[7] Tahiyyat Sitting

Sitting. Recite:

The blessed salutations, the good blessings are for Allah
Peace be upon you O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah & His blessings
Peace be upon us, and upon Allah's righteous servants

Recite & raise right index finger at الا الله:
اشهد ان لا اله الا الله
واشهد ان محمد رسول الله
اللهم صل على محمد

I bear witness there is no God but Allah
And I bear witness Muhammad is Allah's Messenger
O Allah, please bless upon Muhammad

If this is the final final raka'at do [8]
Else, start the next raka'at at [2].

[8] Say Peace For The Prophets

Sitting. Recite:

O Allah, please bless upon Muhammad and upon his family
as much as You bless upon Abraham and upon his family
and please bless upon Muhammad and upon his family
as much as You bless upon Abraham and upon his family
In the universe, verily You are Most Praised Most Majestic

[9] Salam

Say salam to your right:
السلا م عليكم ورحمة الله
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah

and say salam to your left
