O Yahya! Take hold of the Book with might
OK. So where did the muslims first immigrated to escape prosecutions in Mecca? To Abysinnia - a land under the christian King Negus. Of course, the Meccan Quraish pursued the muslims. & with precious gifts, they tried to persuade Negus to return the migrants.
But the King believed the muslims & allowed them to stay.
أقربهم مودة للذين آمنوا الذين قالوا إنا نصارى ... أعينهم تفيض من الدمع مما عرفوا من الحق [Q5:82-84]
King Negus believed after hearing a part of Surah Maryam, narrating the story of Prophets John and Jesus. He listened until he wept and his beard was moist with tears. He then said, "The message brought by Muhammad and that was brought by Jesus are from a single source." He believed what the muslims state regarding Jesus. [Syed Maududi]
When Negus passed away, Rasulullah ﷺ said "Beg pardon for your brother". Rasulullah drew them up in a row and offered prayer & recited four takbirs for him. [SM4.2078]اعوذب لله من الشيطان الرجيم

(Jesus) said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive. And (made me) dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."[Holy Quran 19:30-33]
I seek refuge to Allah SWT from errors.
Only Allah SWT knows best. والله أعلم

The Holy Quran also mentions the Roman (Byzatine) Empire. After their defeat in Jerusalem, Allah SWT promised they will regain victory & the believers will rejoice. والله أعلم

The Byzantines have been defeated. In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice. [Quran 30:2-4]
There's stories about Byzantium Emperor, Heraclius too. He is mentioned in the hadiths.
Narrated Abu Sufyan:
That Heraclius sent for him and said, "What did he, i.e. the Prophet order you?" I replied, "He orders us to offer prayers; to give alms; to be chaste; and to keep good relations with our relatives. [SB8.73.10]
In 638, Caliph Umar al-Khattab took over Jerusalem peacefully without shedding a drop of blood. When he was invited by the Archbishop of Jerusalem, Sophronius, to pray in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, he refused saying: "If I had prayed in the church it would have been taken by muslims as a mosque or a worship place".
This confirmed freedom of worship for non muslims under the islamic state. He did pray a few yards outside the church. & a mosque was later built on the site, called the Omar Mosque.
The Covenant of Umar granted the people of Jerusalem peace & protection. It has been mounted at the door of the mosque for centuries and until now.

The Covenant of Umar
"In the Name of (God) Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
This is an assurance of peace and protection given by the servant of Allah Umar, Commander of the Believers to the people of Ilia' (Jerusalem). He gave them an assurance of protection for their lives, property, churches as well as the sick and healthy and all its religious community.
Their churches shall not be occupied, demolished nor taken away wholly or in part. They shall neither be coerced in their religion nor shall any of them be injured."
