OK I actually have read Ashkenazis were in Indonesia, as reported by Jacob Halevy Saphir (1822 – 1886). They were in Batavia (Jakarta), Surabaya and Semarang, and many married non Jewish women. I've wondered why Indonesia has citizens who look foreign. Were some of them have Ashkenazi ancestors who escaped Europe to Nusantara during the Holocaust, around the 1930s?

Anyway in Malaysia, some of those who look foreign have Turkish or Arab ancestry e.g. Asma Al Junid, ^REF Azah Al Sagoff ^REF and Zeti Akhtar. Arab merchants thrived in Singapore and welcomed by Istana Kampung Glam. ^{REF REF} I wonder if the Arabs met the Ashkenazis ^REF here ❆ Ben Yemen

When I was in sekolah kebangsaan, my Malay friends look diverse. Wan's family from Kelantan are "blonder" (lighter color). Mas looks more Japanese. When I was a kid, I didn't really realize how we look different. I just go with having fun together. Now I feel the diversity is special.

BTW I was one of the best student all through school. It's only recently that I realize people judge me of lesser intelligence than the international school students, which is sad for me. It kinda breaks my heart when I am not as valuable bcoz I was never English educated ❆ 40

On another note, can you imagine, the legends do narrate that the Malay Sultans descend from Alexander of Macedon. If this is true, it means the Malays are actually Indo Europeans. It's how "kotak" (box) is κουτάκι, "kepala" (head) is κεφάλι, "jenis" (genus) is γένος. The Hellenistic Era is evident in our history and language.

Even Kelantan (Kelate) sounds like Κελτοί (Celt). So wow, please do not be ASHAMED that you are Malay ❤ Himalaya ❆ हिम χειμώνας
