My Class

Posted By Snow at 4/13/2015 1 comments

Ya I'm a national school monstrosity educated!
Even when I was offered to study in Tunku Kursiah College, MRSM, I chose the nearby school

For me personally... In my national school, I studied with various races - Malay, Chinese, Indians etc. Even white kids from Australia, bcoz we had a student exchange programme. My teachers are as diverse, I remember Teacher Caroline - I don't really know her race but I remember she was tall & looked foreign. She once said she prefers her own mashed potatoes than KFC and her family is taller, so she seems English-y, I mean what kind of Malay make mashed potatoes and tall, right...

What the kids in national schools do
Give me your money & see the magic light up ★

Education wise - I learned math, history, geography, arts, science, physics, chemistry, biology, accounts, english, arabic... even plumbing, sewing, cooking, carpentry, circuitry... And classes are ordered by exam achievements. Mine was the most academic, but the opposite was the most sporty. Some people lament that classification, but when we were students we don't realize it we just roll - we were kids doing what we do best. هذا من فضل ربي ليبلوني أأشكر أم أكفر And we love each other.
I remember the gang leader from the sporty not geek class had a crush on me. Did he tried to learn math to impress me.. hehehehee so perasan. But I never had puppy love, OK.
And for the lessons in life, we also learned what its like to be unpaid child labor volunteers - as we cooperate to clean the class, school, draw murals, manage events or projects, sell stuffs at school carnivals etc. Thinking of it, I learned so much. Thank you, Teachers. الحمد لله

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
... ياأيها الذين آمنوا لا يسخر قوم من قوم عسى أن يكونوا خيرا منهم

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule (another) people
perhaps they may be better than them ...
[Partial Holy Quran 49:11]

May we all have the class to not to look down on others

Sheba
The trading port between East and West

Aramco states the Sabaeans dominated trade between the East and the Mediterranean - with ships from China (bringing silk), Africa (produce) and India (cinnamon, pepper, gold & precious stones) sailing through it's port at Aden. [aramco]

See the route from Aqaba to Aden - this is the route from the ancient Kingdom of Edom to the ancient Kingdom of Sheba. So in ancient times, did ships from Edom (Ezion Geber) pass through Aden - in its way towards the Far East?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

"King Solomon also built ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Elath in Edom, on the shore of the Red Sea. And Hiram sent his men - sailors who knew the sea - to serve in the fleet with Solomon's men. They sailed to Ophir and brought back 420 talents of gold, which they delivered to King Solomon."
[1 Kings 9:26-28]

In Muar, Ophir (אוֹפִיר) is Mt Ledang. [map here] The region is famed for its gold - the Chinese called it 'Kim Sua' (金山 Golden Mountain), the Indians called it 'Suvarnabhumi' (सुवर्ण भूमि Land of Gold), the Greeks called it Golden Chersonese (Χρυσή χερσόνησος).

So, did they deliver gold from Malacca to King Solomon ? [ref] (*v*) ماشاء الله والله أعلم

Mediterranean - Suez - Aden - Indonesia (circa 1800s)
I wonder if the route is the same taken by the Jews - when Indonesia was under Dutch rule. Jacob Halevy Saphir reports of Ashkenazi Jewish families in Jakarta, Surabaya & Semarang, but many mix married with the locals. [ref1 | ref2]

Now, Sheba is in the ancient history of Yemen.

Anyway in Malaysia, there are people who descend from Yemen. Zeti Akhtar Aziz is said to descend from the Hadhrami from her mother Sharifah Azah Mohamed Alsagoff. [ref | photo] The Alsagoff are merchants from Yemen who reached Singapore.

And Zeti's father, Ungku Aziz descended from the Circassians. Ungku Aziz himself founded Tabung Haji - which still serves pilgrims the journey to Mecca today. And before there were airlines, pilgrims had traveled by ships - from Singapore to Aden to Jeddah. الحمد لله

ماشاء الله how old am I
